Mrs./Mom/Grandma
Superpower: She can transform trauma into triumph.
After witnessing a brutal stabbing just as the dream of being a writer was igniting her passions, Julie Cordova began writing in the genres of suspense, mystery, sci-fi, and horror. Her first book, The Other Side of the Rainbow, was published in March 2023 with New Degree Press. The second book of the trilogy will be published in the Spring of 2025. The final book of the trilogy, The Other Kind of Love, is being developed now.
Julie likes being unconventional.
She writes in a variety of genres and venues.
She decided to attend college when she was 37. She applied and was accepted to attend the University of Denver. She graduated Magna Cum Laude earning her BA in Communication. She then went on to earn her graduate liberal arts degree in art and culture - specializing in creative writing.
Julie also likes being stable and conventional.
She currently lives her happily-ever-after with her husband, Phil. The couple live near their two sons in Colorado and relish the time they get to share with their grandsons while wishing they could spend more time with their granddaughter who lives in Portland. Julie enjoys reading and listening to books and novels in almost every genre; dancing, and sitting around a fire pit sharing stories and celebrating life while enjoying a glass of wine.
Julie wants to do more than write:
She would like to have a podcast based on her work with Step It-Up SISTERS. SiUS was initially designed to be a membership to help creative artists overcome feelings of restlessness (caused by their inability to create their art) so they can enrich their life and the lives of others with their art. The plan was to help members of SiUS learn about, practice, and celebrate taking small impactful steps every day in this collaborative Artist Community. After getting the publishing contract for The Other Side of the Rainbow, Julie realized she had to simplify SiUS to accommodate her vision and love of acronyms and conversations about meaningful topics - she re-envisioned the sisterhood as a podcast and has been recording episodes with fascinating people. Now, that she has entered the world of Indie Publishing, she is embracing the sisters as a tool for her success with SiUs Press. To learn more about SiUS click here.
She is also a wiz at problem solving. She wouldn’t be the one you ask to join you as you search a dark abandoned basement for Zombies but if you have an issue with story, or everyday work and life obstacles - she’s your gal. She wanted to have a blog so she decided to unleash her idea for Zombie Apocalypse Training as a game of self-help and fun.
She likes to learn about wine. She and Phil have been members of Invintions: Creative Winery for over a decade! Julie particularly likes creating her own wine labels and both she and Phil enjoy gifting wine to friends and family.
She loves to dance although her weekends have slowed down over the years. She’ll dance every time the opportunity presents itself. She prefers classic rock - she knows it’s only rock and roll but she really likes it! Yes, she does indeed.
